Video game cartridges came long before CD's and were much more durable. Canadian blogger Rinry subjected eight NES cartridges to all manner of video game torture and hell.
Experiments on 8 different cartridges included laying it rubbing alcohol, a run through a washing machine, over night in a freezer, exposure to Canadian winter elements for 3 days, 5 holes drilled into it, fireworks, a high drop and being hit by a car.
At the conclusion of his experiment, seven of the cartridges still worked. Perhaps making CD's that can easily break is all part of the evil gaming companies master plan.
Capitalism as its finest!
