2009 NFL Power Rankings: Week 1
In the second week of our network power rankings, we shuffle the standings with a pretty exciting first week of action behind us.
Below are some things that stuck out:
- 5 teams moved up significantly in the rankings. Seattle moved up 6 while San Francisco, New York Jets, Buffalo, and New Orleans moved up 5 spots. Although Buffalo did not win, a lot of voters accredit their effort as being worthy for a higher ranking.
-3 teams moved significantly south due to poor week one performances. Houston and Carolina moved down 6 spots with the defending NFC champs sliding back 5 spots.
- The top 5 remains the same 5 teams teams although Pittsburgh and New England flip flopped on the top along with the Eagles passing the Colts for the number 4 spot.
- The Titans are the highest ranked team (11th) who lost while the Broncos are the lowest rated team who won (25th)
- New England is the highest ranked team who did not make the playoffs last year (2nd), while Miami is the lowest ranked team (21st) who did make the playoffs last year.
- Week 2 will have 5 games in which teams 1-0 will face each other.
