Week three offered quite a shakeup of the NFL landscape. 3 playoff teams of a year ago are 0-3, while 3 non playoff teams have opened up 3-0.
This week's top four remains the same, but the rest of the field has been jumbled up as upsets, turnovers, and bad field goal kicking have taken their tolls on many teams.Below are some items that stood out:
- Dallas and San Diego both won their games but were unable to move up the power rankings. Both have big games next week to earn some upward mobility.
- The Chargers, Bears, 49ers, Bengals, and Cowboys are jammed together with only 1.1 average ranking separating them. The Bloguin voters have these as your "bubble" teams for the playoffs with not a lot of separation between them.
- The Buccaneers were a win against the Raiders away last year from the playoffs. 1 Head Coach and 2 QB's later, they find themselves at 0-3 and ranked 30th in the Power Rankings.
- There are 3 games this upcoming weekend pitting top ten teams against each other. Should be interesting to see how these marquee match-ups shakeout.
- The bottom 4 teams have experimented with different quarterbacks or been forced to play a backup because of an injury. A common trend that cannot be ignored. You maybe looking at the teams who will be fighting for the likes of Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy.
- 4 teams have byes this week (Panthers, Cardinals, Falcons, Eagles). All four made the playoffs last season in the NFC.
- Mark Sanchez is 3-0 and fellow rookie Matthew Stafford earned his first win. These early results combined with the development of Flacco and Ryan are making a strong case to start rookie QB's sooner in their career
