Stop the presses, drop the anchor, alert Captain Obvious, and brace yourself for this "bombshell" from Minnesota Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio. He says (via PBT) he needs to put on some size to make it in the NBA.
"I think it will be physically harder than Europe - I will need to do more weights," he said of the NBA's playing style."
I know. Shocking!
But come on Ricky. Do you really need to bulk up? Well maybe you do.
Rubio comes in weighing 190 lbs. And with NBA guards just a "smidge" bigger than him, adding some size will do him some good. Not to mention every defender will be gunning for him next season.
Well Ricky, I am glad you can admit this so here are a few pointers to help speed along your weight-training regiment.
First off, you are in the United States. In case you didn't know, Americans are fat. Why? Fast food is one of the main reasons. So I suggest simply walking around Minnesota and enjoy vast amounts of McDonalds' Big Macs, Taco Bell, and 7-11 Big Gulps filled with your soda of choice. That should add some size rather fast.
Second, you do know there's a lockout right? You also know there is no drug-policy because of the lockout? You thinking what I'm thinking? Three letters: HGH.*
Third, actually hit the weight room. I suggest three sets of increasing reps and weight for each body part. Make sure you have a staggered-stance, breathe, don't swing your body, and grunt and yell loudly in the gym. If anyone asks you to spot them, say no. Always interrupt someones workout by demanding you work in with them, wear sunglasses in the gym, leave any dumbbells you use scattered on the gym floor, and never wipe off your sweat when you are done with a bench.
Follow those steps and you can rival Dwight Howard's build.
