Brandon Roy will come back with Minnesota

Written by John Karalis on .

The Brandon Roy comeback is going to happen.  And it's going to happen with the Minnesota Timberwolves

Yep, it's happening.

The details of the contract aren't out yet, but this thing is happening.  And it was easily predictable.  This is what I wrote about him in December:

But his heart doesn't give a damn what his knees think.  What's his 27 year-old heart going to say when he watches game, after game, after game?  What's his prime-of-his-life brain going to think when announcers say "this team is really one player away from being a lock for the Finals?"  Sure, it's December now and the knees are sore.  But January, February and March are long months when you're watching people who aren't as good as you do what you love to do more than anything else in the world.

Brandon Roy is an intense competitor.  He's in the prime of his life.  He knows how to do one thing better than most people can do anything: play basketball.

He cannot, and will not, accept that his knees are not cooperating.  It doesn't matter if he's right or wrong.  It doesn't matter if he might not be able to walk normally in 10 years.  That's something to worry about in 10 years.

All he cares about right now is playing ball.  And the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to let him.

As for the Wolves... it depends on how much money they're throwing at hiim and for how long they'll be throwing it.  He's a really good player when he's healthy.  Sadly, he's not healthy.  We'll have to see what he can do and just hope he doesn't regret this later on.

Update:

Wow, that's a lot of money for a guy with no cartilage in his knees.  Glad to see  Minnesota is still Minnesota.

@J_Weathers21 Keyon is a free agent. At this point, I'd be very surprised to see him back

@RedsArmy_John kinda happy. He gave me a heart attack. Who's the target to back up rondo? Is Terry gonna cover ballhandling?

@RedsArmy_John If Nick Batum is getting 50 million then green is a steal at 40 million

@RedsArmy_John What are C's options if Ray chooses Miami??? What is your guy feeling in Ray???

@JBM5113 if C's lose Ray, their options are very limited. They'll only have $2 million to spend on a free agent

@RedsArmy_John That's a lot of money for a guy coming off heart surgery, no? Maybe worth it. Can't think of a better backup SF right now.
