The Timberwolves have gone through quite the transformation in the front office in the last few years. Flip Saunders has taken over and cleared house and made Minnesota a team that coudl legitimately challenge for the Playoffs this year. With a new general manager in tow, the Wolves are trying to start making step forwards.
None of that can occur however if Kevin Love is not on the court.
Love missed all but 18 games last season, robbing the Wolves of their best player and 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. He has shown so much improvement the last two years, it is rough seeing him struggle with injuries so often.
Love is hoping to change that. According to Charley Walters of the St. Paul (MN) Pioneer Press, Love is at his lightest since jumping to the NBA at a slimmed down 240 pounds. Flip Saunders commented on Love's condition:
The lightest he's been since he's been a pro. He's lost weight in his face, and his body looks leaner with muscle. He's really committed.
If he has maintained his strength, that could mean trouble as he has already stretched his range out to the 3-point line while maintaining his gaudy rebounding numbers. Love already displayed his desire to become a better player in extending his shooting range out to the 3-point line.
This could be an interesting development for the burgeoning All Star. That is, if he can stay on the floor and avoid injuries.
