Kobe Bryant will come back to the Lakers at some point this season. A torn Achilles is not enough to keep Bryant away for too long. Basketball is this man's life, after all.
Bryant's shocking injury April 12 against Golden State ended the Lakers' slim hopes to do anything in the Playoffs and took the wind completely out of the Lakers' sails. The indestructible Bryant suffered a severe injury.
That moment must have been scary for the 35-year-old future Hall of Famer. Bryant possibly could have seen his career ending or at least a career worth having -- one where he is the main player on a team and able to score at will.
In a sit down interview for a select audience, Bryant described the moment of his injury, as captured by Nike PR representative Heidi Burgett:
It is pretty telling that Bryant felt like he could hobble through the final two and a half minutes of the game even though he had a torn Achilles. Or at least, that was his first thought. Obviously, it was difficult for him to put any weight on that leg and continue playing.
Not even Bryant can will himself through that.
So now we wait to see if Bryant can indeed return all the way back this year.
