As you may remember, last week we tipped you off to a video called “The Dark Chiz Rises," a goofy Batman spoof, which “starred” Gene Chizik as Bruce Wayne, trying to save a crumbling Gotham City… or in this case, a crumbling college football program down on the Plains. It’s safe to say that the video not only made our week, but quite possibly our entire 2012 as well.
Well this week, the creator of the video, an Alabama fan with the Twitter handle @anthem21x was nice enough to pass along his follow-up to “The Dark Chiz Rises” this one called, “The Dark Meyer Rises.” As you can guess, Urban Meyer has now replaced Gene Chizik as the Bruce Wayne focal point of the video, with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide reprising their role of “bad guys” set to destroy the new Gotham City. This one Gainesville, FL.
Now, before we get to the video, let me say this: I'm not usually much for sequels, and when this video came across the Twitter feed, I wasn’t planning on running it. After all, how many “Dark ___ Rises” could we all handle? I mean seriously, what’s next? “The Dark Zook Rises?” “The Dark Weis Rises?” How much more could we really take? Wouldn’t it all get a little redundant?
Then, we watched the video. Unlike so many theatrical releases, this sequel is much, much better than the original.
It- and I’m being 100 percent serious when I say this- tells Meyer’s complete story, from the titles with Tebow, to the downfall against Alabama in the 2009 SEC Championship game, through his retirement and back at Ohio State again. And of course, it tells it through the eyes of Bruce Wayne and Batman.
Seriously, if you enjoyed “The Dark Chiz Rises,” check this out. It’s just fantastic, especially if you’re an Alabama fan.
We give this one two enthusiastic thumbs up!
