I was really looking forward to settling in and watching Texas Tech vs. TCU Thursday night. It was going to be my first real opportunity to check out Baker Mayfield, the walk-on freshman starting quarterback for the Red Raiders and I was curious to see if TCU could get the offense going. As it turned out, the game was a penalty-filled stinker complete with bizarre official review decisions and a fox.
That's right, a real live fox.
Texas Tech improved to 3-0 with the win and that was apparently cause for rushing the field by the student section. Hey, it was a win over a top 25 team and a rival Big 12 school, so it seems appropriate. I suppose. Who am I to judge?
I just hope that fox found an escape so he didn't have to see that game in its entirety.
Helmet sticker to Business Insider for the video.
I'm a Tech student and was at the game, the rushing the field was more of a celebration that our football program has some life now, after the ravaging of a successful program by the likes of Tubervile and N. Brown. Its great to be competitive
@jcollins07 Still embarrassing though. I'm a Tech alum. We've had big wins before, but we need to start acting like a big program. Especially the fans and student base. I think it was appropriate to rush the field after we beat #1 ranked Texas, but come on....TCU was ranked....big deal. WE PLAYED AT HOME. And TCU has always been overrated.
Need to start acting? Lol no, we are what we are. Part of that is tech is always considered the underdog and not one of the big dogs. We had some horrendous games at the Jones the past few and can tell you had more fun in that competitive game against tcu then any of the past few years. And running around the field at the end was surely more fun then you had being such a downer about rushing the field.
