Have you seen a video of the Calgary Hitmen’s annual Teddy Bear Toss? No? You’re missing out. Thankfully, we’re here to help.
Each year the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen hold a charity drive in which fans bring stuffed animals to the game and chuck them on the ice when the team scores their first goal. The end result? Thousands and thousands of stuffed animals being flung across the ice. They are all swept up and then donated to local hospitals, as reported by the Calgary Herald.
According to Puck Daddy, just over 25,000 bears/animals were flung, gathered and donated. Truly an impressive (and fun) charitable drive. Other organizations have held similar events, but as far as we can tell, the Hitmen’s effort truly reigns supreme.
