1. The College of Charleston, picked in the preseason to finish just behind Davidson in the Southern Conference, was playing Division II Anderson University. They lost. To be fair, Anderson is good Division II team, and should play most of the season in the DII top 20.
2. Junior Chandler Hash, a transfer from South Carolina Upstate, led the Trojans with 19 points off of 5-7 2s and 3-7 3s. He entered the game as the team's 2nd leading scorer (15.2 ppg) largely off his 46% 3-point shooting.
3. Anderson did a great job controlling the pace of this game, which only featured 58 possessions. The Trojans only turned the ball over 8 times (13.8%). On the season, the College of Charleston is one of the worst teams in the nation (343rd of 347 D1 teams) at forcing turnovers.
4. On the offensive end, Charleston – playing without two starters – turned it over 19 times (32.8%). It was the 3rd straight game (and 4th overall) in which Charleston has turned it over on more than 30% of their possessions. They're currently 340th in turnovers.
5. The Cougars were 16-48 from the field, including 6-14 from beyond the arc. This means they were just 10-34 (29.4%) on 2s. The last time they made that few 2s was in a loss to Louisville last season.
