1. 7-foot sophomore Alex Kirk played a pivotal role on the interior and forced Cincinnati to alter a number of close shots that otherwise would have been lay-ins. He finished with 3 official blocks. After failing to record a single block in his first four games this year, he's now averaged 1.9 per game over the past ten. He also added 15 points off just 8 shots.
2. Sophomore guard Hugh Greenwood failed to score a single point for the first time this season. But he still had a huge effect on this game with a career best 8 assists, which was twice his previous high from this year.
3. Junior Sean Kilpatrick hoisted 22 shots (making only 5) just two games after he put up 27 attempts vs Xavier. So in a three game span he's taken a) the most field goal attempts of his career, and b) the 2nd most field goal attempts of his career. He now attempts 29.5% of the Bearcats shots when he's on the floor, which is 6.4% more than last year. The previous high for any Mick Cronin coached player is Deonta Vaughan's freshman year (2006-07) when he jacked 28.6%.
4. Cincinnati made 20-64 shots (31.3%) but were very good from the arc (11-26, 42%). This means they made only 9-38 2s (23.7%). Their previous low on 2s this year was 32.5% at Oregon.
5. New Mexico won 55-54 in a 62 possession game. The 0.87 points per possession scored by Cincinnati is their worst offensive game of the year. But they still haven't had a single opponent score greater than a point per possession against them.
