Can’t miss games: Week 2

Every Monday Run the Floor will list the games not to be missed. Plan your schedule. Set your DVR. Get your hoops on. This isn't just a list of the biggest games of the week – but rather, the ones which should have high entertainment value.

Davidson at New Mexico, MONDAY (technically Tuesday on the east coast), 2 AM EST, ESPN. Unless you're a serious night owl or live on the west coast, then either catch a nap or set this one to record. Davidson is full of skill, and stars De'Mon Brooks and Jake Cohen will be worth the price of admission. New Mexico, from the stacked Mountain West, is entering the post Drew Gordon era, but Steve Alford has plenty of talent to work with.

Michigan State vs Kansas, TUESDAY, 7 PM, ESPN. Get home from work, turn on ESPN, watch until sleepy time. First up, Sparty, who already has a loss on the season (to UConn), vs Kansas. The combined star power these two lost is impressive – Draymond Green, Brandon Wood, Thomas Robinson, Tyshawn Taylor – but not nearly as impressive as the fact that both are still absolutely loaded.

Duke vs Kentucky, TUESDAY, 9 PM, ESPN. Immediately following Michigan State vs Kansas, these two powerhouses tip off. Kentucky had a close call vs another ACC team (Maryland) to kick their season off. The Blue Devils have a great mix of youth and experience, while Kentucky is almost all youth. Should be fun.

Wisconsin at Florida, WEDNESDAY, 7 PM, ESPN. Not a game for people who like to watch teams get up and down the court. Wisconsin will grind out every possession, while the Gators will hunt for threes. Florida's game with Georgetown was canceled, so this is their first official real opponent  after blasting RPI-killer Alabama State.

NC State vs Penn State, THURSDAY, 5 PM, ESPN2. NCSU has been getting a tremendous amount of hype, and this will be the first team which has the potential to test them. They should be able to handle the Nittany Lions, who is all Tim Frazier all the time. Penn State should be improved this year, but it remains to be seen if they can score enough to beat good teams.

Notre Dame vs Saint Joseph's, FRIDAY, 9:15 PM, Tru Tv. The swaggy Barclay's Center in Brooklyn opens up for some more college hoops – this time the Coaches vs Cancer. The Irish will go as far as bruising big man Jack Cooley takes them. And Saint Joe's is their first test. Old-man-of-the-A10 Phil Martelli returned his entire roster from a pretty good team a year ago. So they should be more advanced early in the season than most teams they face.

Seattle at Virginia, SATURDAY, 4 PM, ESPN3. Virginia should be able to handle this game, but it will be worth watching just to observe the different coaching styles. Seattle had the most uptempo team in the nation last year, while Virginia was 340th. Seattle needs live ball turnovers and long rebounds to be able to strike quickly. Virginia needs to take care of the ball and rotate back on defense.

Richmond at Minnesota, SUNDAY, 7 PM, B1G NETWORK. Chris Mooney returns a veteran club at Richmond. The Spiders have a deep back court, and strong, talented forwards. Minnesota is primed to have its best season under coach Tubby Smith. Decimated by injuries last year, the extra experience for the bench guys will pay off. The Spiders will be a great test to see where they're at.
