Inside the boxscore: FSU 75, North Florida 67

1. North Florida's Parker Smith is one of the best shooters in college basketball. He's made 54% of his 3s this year, and over 40% for his career. It was an interesting battle in the North Florida – Florida State game, with FSU using Terry Whisnant and Michael Snaer to hound him all night, and UNF using transition and scramble plays to look for him. For the night he got up nine threes, making four (44.4%).

2. North Florida attempted 33 3s. FSU always sees a lot of 3s, and only once in Leonard Hamilton's 11-year tenure has FSU had fewer 3s attempted against them than the average NCAA team. But 33 is a ton, and was 54% of their shot attempts. The last time a team attempted more than 33 against the Noles was in their win over No. 1 Duke on January 12, 2011 (Duke attempted 35).

3. FSU entered the game having made 44.4% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Against the Ospreys FSU only made 2-10, which dropped them to 41.5% for the year. Michael Snaer made the only two for the night, and they came 0:27 seconds apart in the 2nd half.

4. Junior Terrance Shannon continues to fill up the statsheet. In FSU's previous game against St. Joe's Shannon set his career mark for assists (4), and against the Ospreys he set his career mark for steals (4). He leads the team in rebounds and steals, and is third in points.

5. FSU has scored at least 71 points in every game this season. But after three excellent offensive games, last night was a less than impressive. It was a 75 possession game, meaning that FSU scored exactly a point per possession. North Florida gave up 1.17 per possession against Memphis and 1.09 against Kansas State.  The good news is that FSU held an opponent under 0.90 per possession (0.89) for the first time this year – which  is what last year's team averaged.
