1. The Florida Gators are the most balanced team in the nation. They have the country's 5th most efficient offense and the country's 5th most efficient defense. They have four players averaging in double-figures, and last night vs Marquette they scored more per possession than Marquette has allowed all season (1.34 points per possession), while also holding Marquette to their lowest scoring of the year (0.80). It was the most points allowed by Marquette since Notre Dame scored 1.43 per possession two years ago.
2. On the same night that Florida was dominating Marquette, Kentucky's offense was limited to just 0.88 points per possession against Notre Dame. The last time they were held below that number was vs Vanderbilt in February, 2010.
3. In the first six games of Kyle Dranginis' career, he scored 16 points. Last night the Gonzaga freshman scored 30 against Lewis and Clark. He made 8-9 2s and 4-7 3s.
4. Rafael Maia, who is averaging 14.0 points and 8.7 rebounds, had his first career double-double in Brown's win over Sacred Heart, with 19 points and 15 rebounds. This was coming off back-to-back games in which he was one rebound short of a double-double.
5. LSU is off to a perfect 5-0 start in Johnny Jones' first season. A lot of it has to do with sophomore Anthony Hickey. He's not the most efficient scorer, but he's averaging 5.2 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4.2 steals. Last night he stole the ball six times vs Seton Hall as LSU forced at least 20 (26) for the third time this season. LSU is 3rd nationally in steal %.
