10 years ago today: Ricky Clemons wakes in hospital instead of halfway house

It was at a Fourth of July party at the University President's house that Ricky Clemons wrecked an ATV. The point guard for the Missouri Tigers was supposed to be at his halfway house every day from 5pm until 8am, but the crash happened late at night. He'd been serving time after being arrested for hitting and choking his girlfriend.

After the wreck, someone walked back to the party got help. Clemons was driven to the hospital, and he had suffered a severe concussion, a punctured lung, and broken ribs.

Two weeks later he was released from the team.

Later, a taped phone call was released where Clemons claimed he had been receiving money and other help from two coaches. Eventually, the investigation led to a 2-year probation for Missouri, and an exit for head coach Quin Snyder.
