Kansas’ Naadir Tharpe suspended due to playing basketball

One great thing about covering the NCAA is the never ending parade of stupid rules rising to the surface. In today's exhibition of dumbassery, Kansas Jayhawks junior guard Naadir Tharpe has been suspended for one game for playing in a summer league basketball game.

Is it illegal to play in summer league games? Of course not, but players are only allowed to play in them in their hometowns or near their college city. Tharpe played in a game in Chicago while he was visiting his teammate Jamari Traylor. In unrelated news, Missouri head coach Frank Haith was suspended for five games for paying $10,000 to someone in order for that person not to rat out his program for cheating.

Keep fighting the good fight, NCAA.
