(20) Creighton 63 (18-3, 8-1) St John's 60 (12-9, 2-6)

This game was looking like a Creighton blowout with 11 minutes remaining when they were up 48-30. An 11-2 run got the Storm into single digits. After exchanging buckets, St John's closed with a 14-4 run to tie the game at 60 with 11 seconds left following a pair of Rysheed Jordan free throws. The night wasn't meant for St John's. Doug McDermott nailed a 3 with two seconds left for the lead. A Phil Greene 3 for the tie was obviously no good. McDermott popped in 39 on 15 of 26 shooting, 5-9 from 3, 4-5 from the line. Ethan Wragge was held to just 3 shot attempts. D'Angelo Harrison scored a team high 15 for the Red Storm.

(7) Michigan State 71 (19-2, 8-1) (15) Iowa 69 (16-5, 5-3) – OT

The Spartans were able to grind out an overtime win by holding Iowa without a field goal from the 9:57 mark in regulation to 6 seconds remaining in OT. MSU didn't make a field goal the last 4:09 of regulation. Iowa made 4 free throws, Michigan State 3, to send the game into overtime. Matt Costello (11 pts, 12 rebs) made a free throw and tipped in a bucket to put Sparty up 3, but the dagger was made by Russell Byrd, his only basket, with 33 seconds remaining. Michigan St hit 42.4% from the field, 10 of 29 from 3, but was only 11-20 at the line. Iowa hit 37.5% overall and just 30 of a whopping 43 at the line. Keith Appling had 16 to lead Michigan St while Roy Devyn Marble, who missed a layup at the end of regulation, had a game high 21.

LSU 87 (13-6, 4-3) (11) Kentucky 82 (15-5, 5-2)

This game wasn't as close as the margin indicates. The Tigers opened the game on a massive 22-6 run over the first 6 and a half minutes. Kentucky would cut the lead to 6 by the half, but after Anthony Hickey (11 points) nailed a 3 to push the margin back to 11, Kentucky wouldn't get the score to within single digits until 42 seconds were left. Kentucky's ability to win on the road seems to be a weakness for the second year in a row. They had no answer for Johnny O'Bryant, who went off for 29 points on 12-20 shooting, 5-9 at the line, with 9 rebounds. LSU shot 51% as a team. James Young had a big game for the Cats with 23 points on 9-18 shooting, 5-12 from 3, and 7 rebounds.

(4) Wichita State 57 (22-0, 9-0) Loyola (IL) 45 (8-13, 3-6)

the Shockers popped out to a 36-18 halftime lead and were never really challenged in the second half. They shot poorly, 36.5%, and turned the ball over 16 times. It was a big game for Cleanthony Early though. Early scored 23 points on 7-14 shooting, 4-9 from 3, 5-5 at the line. Fred VanVleet had 9 assists, 8 rebounds.

THE REST OF THE ACTION

Virginia 68 (16-5, 7-1) Notre Dame 53 (11-10, 2-6)

The Cavaliers established a 10 point halftime lead and were able to cruise past the Fighting Irish to improve to 7-1 in the ACC. Virginia shot 53.8% for the game. Malcolm Brogdon led the way with 16 on 7-10 shooting, as well as having 6 assists and 5 steals. Mike Tobey also went 7 of 10 but for 14 points. The Irish turned the ball over 20 times in the loss.

Kansas State 66 (15-6, 5-3) Texas Tech 58 (10-11, 2-6)

The Wildcats used a 9-0 run, while holding Tech without a point for 7 minutes, in the first half to bust out a double digit lead. Texas Tech cut the lead to 1 with 7:16 left, but would only score 11 points the rest of the way. Kansas St went 12-12 at the line the final 6 minutes to preserve the win. Will Spradling had 17 for the game and went 7-8 at the line.

West Virgina 66 (12-9, 4-4) Baylor 64 (13-7, 1-6)

Juwan Staten (15 pts, 9 assts) made a layup with 3 seconds remaining for the game winning basket. For the second time this year, Baylor failed to get a shot off at the end of regulation.

Missouri 75 (16-4, 4-3) Arkansas 71 (13-7, 2-5)

Earnest Ross broke a 64 all tie with a 3 pointer with 1:07 remaining for the deciding bucket. Ross and Jabari Brown both scored 24 for Mizzou. The duo were both 8-8 at the foul line.

South Florida 78 (11-10, 2-6) Southern Methodist 71 (16-5, 5-3)

SMU's tournament hopes took a big hit with this terrible loss. Their defense was non-existent as USF went 53% from the field. The Bulls hit 23 of 29, 79%, at the line for good measure. Victor Rudd had 21 on 8 of 12, 4-4 at the line. Corey Allen had 18 on 5 of 9, 6 of 6 at the stripe. Chris Perry also had 18 on 6 of 9 shooting and 6 of 7 at the line. Nic Moore had 23 for the Mustangs, who turned the ball over 16 times.

New Mexico 78 (16-4, 6-1) Utah State 65 (12-8, 2-6)

A big win for New Mexico without Alex Kirk. Cameron Bairstow had a big night with 22 points, while Kendall Williams (16), Cullen Neal (13) and Deshawn Delaney (12) all had double digits. The Lobos shot 45.8% from the field, hitting 8 of 19 from 3, and 16 of 19 from the line, with 14 offensive rebounds, in a fine offensive performance.

VMI 109 (11-9, 4-3) UNC Asheville 105 (10-11, 4-3)

ASheville opened up a double digit lead in the first half, only to see it whittled to 1 at halftime. VMI held the lead for most of the first 10 minutes of the half before the teams swopped the lead. Rodney Glasgow hit a jumper to put VMI up 91-89 with 7 minutes left, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Glasgow had 35, and 10 assists, but didn't lead his team in scoring. QJ Peterson poured in 37 on 13 of 22, 8 of 10 at the line, with 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Andrew Rowsey had 35 for Asheville on 10-18, 4-9 from 3, 11-11 at the line and Jaron Lane had a 27 point, 12-14 FTs, 15 rebound, 6 assist outing. Big stat night.

High Point 81 (8-12, 4-3) Presbyterian 74 (4-18, 0-7)

Devante Wallace of High Point had 28 points on 10-13 shooting, 8-9 from 3.
