VIDEO: Brandon Crawford catches a deflected pop-up

Written by Joe Lucia on .

In Tuesday's Giants-Astros game, Astros catcher Jason Castro hit a pop-up down the left field line in the bottom of the first inning. Giants left fielder Gregor Blanco, third baseman Pablo Sandoval, and shortstop Brandon Crawford all chased the ball, Sandoval got there first and got his glove on it, but it bounced off of the heel of his glove, and as he was falling to the ground, Sandoval batted the ball in the air off the webbing in his glove like it was a beach ball. An alert Crawford was nearby, and made a diving catch on the tipped ball for the inning-ending out.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say while this might not be the "best" play of the year, it certainly is the most unxpected, and possibly the craziest.
