Jon Jay takes away extra bases from Danny Espinosa

Written by Joe Lucia on .

In the top of the sixth inning of Monday's NL Division Series game between the Nationals and Cardinals, St Louis center fielder Jon Jay made a pretty incredible catch in center field. Washington second baseman Danny Espinosa hit a drive to deep left center, and Jay immediately got on his horse tracking the ball to the wall. Without a moment to even time his jump, Jay threw himself up and at the wall, caught the ball, and smashed face first into the wall, managing to hold on to the ball and record the out.

Jay's catch didn't exactly save the game, with the Cardinals leading 7-4 at the time, but it did give the Cardinals a memorable postseason moment an tacked another clip onto Jay's highlight reel, which is growing more robust by the day.
