Brandon McCarthy hit in head with line drive

Written by Joe Lucia on .

During Wednesday's Angels-A's game, Angels shortstop Erick Aybar hit a liner off of A's starter Brandon McCarthy's head in the fourth inning. McCarthy immediately went down on the play, but sat up shortly thereafter. There was no blood, and McCarthy looked more rattled than anything else as he sat there with trainers attending to him.

McCarthy then stood up and walked off the field under his own power after sitting on the mound for about two minutes. Hopefully, everything checks out OK for him and nothing is seriously wrong.
