Mike McCoy and Ryan Langerhans had a terrifying collision in the outfield

Written by Joe Lucia on .

There was a very scary moment in Lakeland today during the Blue Jays-Tigers game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Jeff Kobernus of the Tigers hit a fly ball to right center field. Right fielder Ryan Langerhans camped under the ball preparing to make the catch, but center fielder Mike McCoy barreled in from his position in center and smashed into Langerhans. Amazingly, Langerhans held onto the ball for the third out in the inning.

During the collision, McCoy's quad smashed into Langerhans' knee. Langerhans popped up pretty quickly and remained in the game, while McCoy was down for a bit before being helped off the field by trainers. McCoy suffered a bruised left quad during the collision, and he should be thankful things weren't worse.
