Like we have told you for the past several weeks now, its game set and match for the Colts and the first pick in next year's draft, and they continue to find news way to be inept every week. One has to wonder if this team really would be all that different with Peyton Manning under center. That being said it is a foregone conclusion who will be the 1st overall pick and wearing a horseshoe on his head come draft day.
Now things are starting to get really interesting in terms of RG3 and Matt Barkley. RG3 just took home the Heisman in NYC and Adam Schefter suggests that several NFL men view Griffin's upside as even higher than the great Andrew Luck. Jon Gruden went on a 5 minute ramble on Monday Night football how he thinks RG3 is a special player. (Hey, it beat talking about the game.)
Although Matt Kalil, USC's stud offensive tackle plans to return to school, apparently Matt Barkley is still projected to declare to the NFL draft.
With that being said the race for these two studs is starting to really heat up! Here's how the QB-needy teams of the NFL line up for their services:
1) Miami Dolphins (4-9)
While they only stand currently at 7th on the draft board today, matchups against the Patriots and Jets seem impossible to overcome. With the recent firing of Tony Sparano and concussion symptoms to Matt Moore we might be seeing JP Loser man (Losman) against the Bills. If the Dolphins lose out they should be able to nab the 4th overall pick.
Look for Miami to possibly target RG3 over Barkley as GM Jeff Ireland is a Baylor alum.
Also note that the fun appears to be over in South Beach after the past little slew of wins. It's time to look forward.
2) Cleveland Browns (4-9)
Losses to Pittsburgh and Ravens seem inevitable in week 16 and 17, but a winnable game against the Cardinals in week 15 is staring them in the face. A win would really damage their draft stock and there is still always the possibility the Browns stick with McCoy for one more year. I can tell you one thing though: no Browns player will ever be allowed to be on the cover of Madden again.
3) Washington Redskins (4-9)
After losing a pretty wild game against the Pats, the Redskins currently are 4th in the current draft order. The Redskins should do all they can to stay there but games against the Vikings and Eagles could mean the Skins get at least one more win to close the season. (Peyton Manning might also be a wildcard option here for the Skins, if the Colts release him.)
If John Beck wanted to get back at the Dolphins this would be the time. If he can manage to get back into the lineup and lose the next three games for the Skins, it would be the ultimate revenge he could get.
Outside looking in:
Buffalo Bills (5-8) – Seems unlikely as Gailey has reiterated his long term faith in Fitzpatrick.
Kansas City Chiefs (5-8) – Having that 5th win really hurts them. Have to hope some wins fall on Cleveland and Washington.
It should be a very interesting next few weeks, and may the worst team win!
