Jonathan Vilma bans Roger Goodell from his Miami restaurant
Written by Matt Yoder on .

Roger Goodell has suspended Saints LB Jonathan Vilma from the NFL for the entire 2012 season... for now. With Vilma's defamation suit and court action taken by the four suspended players involved in the bounty/pay for performance situation, that suspension could be overturned and appealed and overturned again multiple times in the courtroom before all is said and done. There have even been reports of Goodell offering Vilma a settlement, but no agreement has come yet.
Vilma has fought the suspension hard since the beginning trying to clear his name and hasn't been afraid to go where no professional athlete has gone before in speaking out against his comissioner. The latest step in Vilma's quest is to give Roger Goodell a taste of his own medicine. Vilma has banned Roger Goodell from his Miami restaurant, Brother Jimmy's BBQ. Vindictive? Maybe. Awesome? God, yes.
No word yet on whether or not Goodell has reprimanded Brother Jimmy's for conduct detrimental to barbeque joints.

It's about time somebody challenged the little dictator Goodell. He's been making far too many punishments with out any checks and balances. That is the crux of our democratic system here in America. He can't be the judge and jury. Way to go Jonathan in challenging this little power hungry entity. Namely Goodell. I'm with you all the way and I hope the league is forced to pull all punishment against you. Go Saints!
like anyone wants to eat at an NFL player's restaurant anyways. They are notoriously horrible at food.
Someone emailed Me this and its the best one yet:
You've never played a down of football in your life, unless it was two-hand-touch. So shut up. EVERYONE tries to inflict pain on the star athlete. You've got to slow him down, make him afraid, do anything you legally can to keep him from having success against your team. Why do you think we celebrate the big clean hits on RBs, QBs and WRs? It's not because we want their career to be over... we just want them to be less effective for the rest of the game. It's a violent sport, numbnuts. You don't run up to the man carrying the ball and say "Tag, you're it". And check your stats, too. It seems like more footballers have been getting arrested since Goodell took control, not less. If you want to call them isiots, then you better learn how to spell 'idiots'. Sheesh.
TIGER1SNACK
WHAT, TEXAS PLAYGROUND?
YOUR SUPPOST TO PUT OUT 100%. NOT ANYTHING LESS, AND THATS
100% THE 1ST QUARTER
100% THE 2ND QUARTER
100% THE 3RD QUARTER AND
100% THE 4TH QUARTER
IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT, THEY WILL SAY GOOD BYE TO YOU
AND GET SOMEONE WHO CAN.
let him eat at your bbq joint, and offer a bounty...-er.. i mean 'bonus' to the employee who can spill the most beer on him.
Trying to INTENTIONALLY HURT someone is CHICKENSH*T.
This is a tactic for LOSERS that cannot beat the other team
@tiger1snack Don't be so naive.. Players are taught to exploit the weakest link and take advantage of that at every moment possible in order to win (in football, "taking the [QB & any star players] out of the game" is a strategy that has been a part of competitive games/sports since they have existed.
It's not cheating, at any time if the other team is able, they can feel free to hit back, that's the point. When one is receiving an a** kicking, the frustration & anger they and their fans feel is merely the reality sinking in that they are being beaten & cannot overcome to stop the other team from continuing said trouncing.
Maybe next time they'll practice harder, become better players and a better team thus be better prepared to stop the other team from beating the crap out of them.
The bountygate BS wouldn't even matter if any team would have been good enough to stop the Saints that season. That was our year, we were unstoppable, get over it.
It's a full contact sport and everybody FULL WELL knows that important fact far prior to ever reaching the NFL.
If you've ever played football at any age AND played for a "winning coach on a winning team" , then you've heard this, or similar: "get in tight and put your helmet right into his numbers and hit him so hard you see snot bubbles come out his nose".
The "Animal Drill" is a drill used often in jr and sr high schools. One player stands alone while the entire team lines up single file facing him. Then, one by one, the players take turns coming at the singled out player with a singular intention, to "clean his clock". Each player takes a turn as being the singled out player who stands still while one by one each player takes a turn at delivering a full on running hit with all they have.
Contact sports are quite Darwinian seeing as it's "survival of the fittest", the strong survive and the weak fall by the wayside. Not to mention, if you've ever played contact sports, you also know that the people that are whining, crying and blaming are always the LOSERS. Seems their is much jealousy that has fueled this Bountygate BS.
Every team and most all players have done it at one time or another, whether it was for extra money, for glory, to be the game hero or simply vengeance and/or revenge. The intent is always the same, overcome, overwhelm, overpower and WIN at all costs, period.
It's a sad, sad shame that Roger Goodell felt compelled to single out the Saints with such little and flimsy evidence. The proceedings were a sham. Goodell must have a "Judge Dredd" complex, he served as judge, jury and executioner. It's an abuse of power and an injustice to anyone and everyone involved at anytime ever with his BS.
And like was said before... I hope it's your team next time.. Remember HATERS, every single teaam does it, whether for money or for glory, they do it and one day, if Goodell is at all fair, then they will eventually be 'caught' and hopefully just as persecuted.
Just remember, it's the losers that sit around whining about how they got the crap beat out of 'em. Gee, I guess I'll say "sorry", since nobody was good enough or strong enough to overcome the '09 Saints, deal with it.
Like I said already, at any time during any given game, the opposing team being beaten up on could have stepped up and stopped the Saints from wiping the turf with their a**es (if they could), trouble was... They just simply couldn't.
!!WHO DAT!!
@s_elliott_h @tiger1snack It's a full contact sport and everybody FULL WELL knows that important fact far prior to ever reaching the NFL. "If you've ever played football at any age AND played for a "winning coach on a winning team" , then you've heard this, or similar: "get in tight and put your helmet right into his numbers and hit him so hard you see snot bubbles come out his nose" Uh, S elliott H, in case you haven't been keeping up, there is a rule now in the NFL for inflicting hits with the helmet as well as a multitude of other rules to prevent this billion dollar business from losing assets, namely marquis players from cheap shot, chickensh*t strategy as has been clearly propogated by these Saints players and coaches. I'd love to see your reaction when someone takes a cheap shot (for money) against Brees after a play is over and then get penalized 15 yards and Brees is ut for the season. You'd be the first hypocrite jumping out of your chair, screaming at your TV like a little girl.
@tiger1snack and as you can see in the films they did.....NO MORE THAN ANY OTHER &*()*** TEAM IN FRICKING NFL FOR THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL. The chicken$&*) is Roger Goodell who picked ONLY ONE team to show he has his big boy diapers on. Get real HATER, if it was your team you wouldn't be diarrea mouthing on here. You"d be as pissed as we are. Hope your team gets caught next, bet I won't see your butt on here calling anyone else chicken poo
Legal hits are allowed in the NFL as part of the game. NFL players shouldn't hit to intentionally injure another player. They are football players and NOT Roman gladiators!! @Rmseve @tiger1snack
@johnregisjacobs @Rmseve @tiger1snack how many illegal hits did jonathan vilma get penalized for?.... dont worry ill wait
@johnregisjacobs @Rmseve @tiger1snack
I LOVE that you reference the gladiators. What made Rome so unique is that the fans came to see bloodshed, not just competition. That desire still exists in us, and we PAY BIG to see it. Athletes know there is big money to win violently. Coaches know it, too. And good coaches teach techniques that promote violence or protect from violent impact. It's part of the game.
The players know this better than anyone, and if THEY don't act violently, violence will be done to them or their teammates.
EVERY SINGLE HIT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO MAIM OR WORSE. Every one of them. But the rules (which are occasionally enforced) prevent major devastation to the players, allowing the big $$$ to flow.
If I am off-balance, I can turn my ankle or tweak my knee, which slows me down. So my opponents try to force me off my balance to give them a better chance to win. If I am tough, they try harder until I am on the sideline.
All this to say... of COURSE they are trying to hurt each other. Don't be naive.
THIS WEBSITE SUCKS A$$. IT TOOK ME 45 MINUTES TO TYPE THIS. Get on it, webmaster.
_____CAN YOU imagine how much WORSE the NFL PLAYERS would behave and how many MORE ARRESTS there would be WITHOUT Roger Goodell having to keep these isiots in line?????
Think about it .....................

I'm guessing that Commissioner Goodell feels about as badly about this as the President of PETA would feel for being banned from a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.Heck, he's probably never even heard of the joint.I know that I never have.
good for him all football players from peewee up to and including pros you are taught to get the best player and hit him as hard as you can not dirty but clean if you dont you dont play i dont care about a bounty you just hit the player as hard as you can as long as it is not dirty. football is a violent game and you have to be tough or dont play
Football is NOT about HITTING THE OTHER GUY AS HARD AS YOU CAN... THAT'S A STATEMENT of STUPIDITY from some IDIOT that never played the game.
I played at Texas and we were NEVER taught to "Hit the other guy as hard as we can". We were taught to TACKLE HARD and NOT give up a HUGE play because we lost control and tried to "hit the other guy as hard as we can"
The players that launch themselves at players, especially receivers, are a HUGE problem. On the other side, the receivers need to keep their mouth shut and dont dance around like some diva monkey because they made a first down.
PLAY HARD, PLAY FAIR AND PLAY WITH RESPECT. The other team are AMERICANS TOO !!!
Well now I regret having been born in Texas cause you were taught to be a dainty flag football player
@tiger1snack So if they weren't Americans, you would try to hurt them? Don't talk about "playing with respect", you don't even know what it is.... Typical white trash

@onetuch45 In case you haven't read the news, Vilma and the other players were not playing by the rules and neither were their coaches. I'm sure Roger Goodell would never have set foot in this dirtbag's restaurant in the first place. No true NFL fan should, either.
u pussy thats what football is all about. Being the biggest meanest dude on the feild and kickin ass, thats what it was back in the day and it should be today. Vilma and Harrison are good hard players, and shouldn't be treated this way
You are a gutless coward! Gutless cowards cry and whine online when they are not the ones that are feeling the pain.
Vilma and Harrison ARE GUTLESS COWARDS.
Let those big tough mean idiots play QB and stand in the pocket and let OTHER people crush them.
Gutless cowards that CRY and WHINE about fines when THEY are not the ones taking the big hits
There's a difference in intentionally ending someone's career and playing the game with passion. This clearly crosses the line when you are being paid to injure someone.
Why was Goodell banned? Did Goodell participate in a bounty situation with the sous chef at the restaurant? LOL. Too bad Vilma can't man up, take his licks for his participation, and be ready to play football next year. He could take a lesson from his suspended coach.
Ok tomorrow when you go to work then when someone tells you what to do, don't do it see where it gets your happy butt. The also you must realize how long Goodell has been commissioner and how many BLIND Eyes he turned to the BIGGER MONEY teams who did crappy things. We know in New Orleans that all them big city teams look down on us and so does their paid for in pocket commissioner!
Glad Vilma isn't out to prove he's the better man RT @awfulannouncing Jonathan Vilma has banned Roger Goodell from his Miami restaurant ..
@awfulannouncing I am sure Roger will be very disappointed. I'd b surprised if Roger new it existed.
