Bengals fail to capitalize on Steelers loss; AFC wildcard race constricting

The Pittsburgh Steelers were dominated by the San Diego Chargers today, but the Bengals, who were tied with the Steelers for the last playoff spot coming into the game, couldn't capitalize, losing to the Cowboys after leading most of the game.

With the losses by the Steelers and the Bengals, the Jets are suddenly right back in the wildcard race, just a game back with three to play.

The Jets were able to hang on in Jacksonville to claim a 17-10 victory on the back of a quiet, but efficient, performance by Mark Sanchez.

Despite the Jets win and the losses of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, New York is still hoping for plenty of help to sneak into the playoffs. The Steelers still have a game to play against the Bengals. The Steelers won their first meeting, giving them the inside track to the postseason.

In other AFC North news, the Ravens dropped an overtime matchup to the Washington Redskins, but with the defeat of the Steelers and Bengals, the AFC North crown is now all but in the bag for Baltimore. Their hope of claiming the AFC's second seed in the playoffs, however, is a different story.
