5 most hated teams in the NFL

Written by Shane Clemons on .

Jerry_Jones_UpsetThere's a pair of very important things to consider when you read the following list of the 5 most hated teams in the NFL. First of all, this is just my opinion on what I see from people I talk to on a regular basis to what's being said on Sportscenter. With that standardized disclaimer, we're off.

5. Oakland Raiders

We start our top 5 countdown with a team that's consistently been the butt of many personnel jokes over the past decade. Still, they've been able to build a competitive roster in the past couple of years, but they've failed to put it together in the form of a playoff run. The Raiders are entering the 2012 season as an underdog. Even with their poor luck over the past decade, they're still a team we love to hate.

4. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys may be "America's team," but they're also viewed as one of the most arrogant organizations in the league. Jerry Jones would have fired a general manager with his own track record years ago, but well, he can't exactly fire himself now can he? Still, you would think a mind so great and all knowing as his could put together a team that's built to go deep in the playoffs. The greatest thing his team has done in the past decade was in building Jerry's World.

3. New York Jets

The Jets are the poster boys of the NFL for dysfunctional teams. They continuously insist that Mark Sanchez is their guy (a notion that still confuses me), but then they bring in Tim Tebow, the most controversial figure in the NFL today. Rex Ryan can't control his locker room, and he doesn't know when to shut up and get results. In all honesty, I don't think the word "hate" describes most peoples' feelings towards the Jets. In all reality, they're more of a running joke than a team to hate.

2. New England Patriots

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady; two guys that nearly everyone loves to hate. It's possible that we hate them because they've been to 5 Super Bowls together, winning the first 3. It's possible that we hate them because they win so damn often, and it's possible we hate them because they never drop us enough information in their press conferences. Regardless of the reasons, we know one thing. We really hate the New England Patriots.

1. New Orleans Saints

A year ago, I wouldn't have thought it was possible for a team to be hated more than the Patriots while Tom Brady and Bill Belichick were still in the NFL, but then the Saints went off and proved me wrong. People don't hate the Saints because they likely orchestrated a bounty system. People hate the Saints because they are still claiming innocence, even as the NFL begins to release evidence that appears to be "compelling" according to Peter King.

i would've put Patriots as number 1, cowboys as 2, Lions as 3,  Jets as 4, and maybe Steelers as 5.

This article putting the Saints as the most hated team is the farthest from the truth, the Saints wouldn't have even made this list if not for Peter King story telling. He is the most over rated sports writer that i have read.

Where is Pittsburg? They are hated more than the Raiders, & are closer to where the Pats are; & the Saints are really the most hated? I can see where you are coming from, though. I like it, :) good report… & p.s. Jerry Jones can find himself being forced to shut up, & be not allowed to conference with players or coaches, from the League itself (if he keeps it up), I don’t see him stopping what he’s been doing since Jimmy Johnson. He fired Tom Laundry, & then Jimmy Johnson? Clearly not ok, in his head (Jerry)…

@ChristopherLanham From my view, the Steelers are as respected as they are hated. Sure, Ravens, Bengals, and Browns fans really hate them, but I think the rest of the league uses them as a model of consistency and stability. Still, they'd be in the honorable mentions category for sure.

I am a Seahawks, & Jaguars fan, I hate em... good thing I didn't write this here, because they (the Steel) would have made my list, of most hated teams.

I like the article; I give it two thumbs up. I like the way you think, is more than likely why I would give you so much credit; not taking away, the fact you didn't mention, 'my most, #1 hated team.

& I really think, because you mentioned it, that they have to be around, somewhere with the Cowboys, & Patriots, for sure in my book. That would be the only one I would have to disagree with you on. Oh & I like the Saints, also; I own a Drew Brees Jersey (black 1).

Oh the Cowboys are 3rd on my personal list; of teams I hate the most (Pitty, Pats, & then the Cowboys I dislike the most, from where I am coming from). I was starting to hate on Peyton Manning & the Colts here, too a little bit; before they released him, & cut him as a free agent.

You are right again though, most hated, but that is also, I would suppose is why I respect Peyton. I think Peyton is the best QB ever to of played the game, & I believe that Tom Brady & Bill Belichick, took some of his plays, & made it a part of the Patriots offense. I mean; if you were the Patriots, doing what they do, how could you pass on opportunities to steal plays from, “the ‘Hurry up King himself?”

I don’t like cheaters, but I would love to learn as many audible calls from the guy, as possible

Thank you for the response: I must say, very cool (of you to reach back out to anyone whom happens to ask you about, certain things) & interesting.

Couldn't Brett Favre and Kurt Warner sue?  It looked like Warner retired earlier than he would have because of how beat up he was.  Also Favre looked awful.  I'm surprised they did not complain more.  I guess because they were both close to retiring, they just used how bad they felt as a sign to pack it in.  The way they were treated bothered me alot all season; at least now I know why.
