Morning Huddle - unbridled optimism in Indianapolis

If Andrew Luck's receivers can get this kind of separation, he'll have a long, prosperous career in Indianapolis.

Colts players and fans are having no trouble moving on from the Peyton Manning era. Reviews are flying in that rookie quarterback Andrew Luck is a huge success. I don't have a problem with optimism, but Colts fans and players do need to realize their quarterback is very young, and he won't always look like the future Hall of Famer he's replacing, if ever. Patience is the key here. He'll be great, but he'll also need some time to get their. I think his coaches and teammates understand that.

Peyton Manning may be sharp with his throws, but his arm strength still isn't back to 100%. Then again, do we really expect it to ever get back to 100%? This guy makes better decisions with the ball than any other quarterback in the league. If he can operate with that level of decision making, even with only 70-80% of his arm strength, the Broncos will be just fine without the laser-rocket-arm.

The Saints are taking their final day of OTAs off. Some teams vacate a day of practice in favor of something fun, such as a day of golf in the Saints' case. As I've said before, missing OTAs is no big deal, and the practices are more or less about getting the younger, less experienced players on the same page as the veterans. The golf outing is apparently something Sean Payton does every year, and interim head coach Joe Vitt is simply continuing the tradition.
