BREAKING: 49ers Coach Harbaugh treated for irregular heartbeat today

Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco 49ers
Doctors treated San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh for an irregular heartbeat today, according to an Associated Press story circulating through the media.

Harbaugh visited doctors Wednesday afternoon after feeling ill. They advised that he have the "minor surgical procedure" that took place at Stanford University Hospital.

Harbaugh led 49ers practice Wednesday, where players said he showed no sign of distress. The 49ers expect Harbaugh's return to practice Friday as the team prepares for its Monday Night Football contest against the Chicago Bears.

Medical details are private. Neither the team nor Harbaugh provided information. Irregular heartbeat is a form of Arrhythmia that can be treated with prescription blood thinners. The reports describe a minor procedure. I speculate that to have been an electrical cardioversion – an electric shock delivered under local anesthesia to restore normal rhythm.

San Francisco is 1½ games ahead of Seattle in NFC West standings.

Who has it better than you, coach? Heal fast. Hurry back.
