Doomsday scenario for the Jets isn’t far-fetched

This weekend, the New York Jets are on the road against the Miami Dolphins. Last week, Mark Sanchez and the Jets' offense were completely inept with the exception of an early touchdown drive.

To put it simply, this is a make or break game for the Jets, and more specifically, Mark Sanchez. I'll be very frank here; I don't think Tim Tebow can succeed in the long term as a starting quarterback, but Mark Sanchez has proven time and time again that he's not a great quarterback. In fact, he's often very mediocre.

Now I'll say something I never thought I'd actually say. I think Tim Tebow gives the Jets a better chance to win week in and week out than Mark Sanchez. Mark Sanchez makes big mistakes against great defenses. In games with little margin for error, Sanchez doesn't get it done.

On the other hand, Tim Tebow gives the Jets a few key strengths. He can run the ball very well. With him on the field, there's essentially one more ball carrier the defense has to account for. Once the run is established, Tebow can throw the ball, albeit poorly at times, but he does get it down field.

The one mistake the Jets can make this weekend is looking past the Dolphins. Miami isn't headed to playoffs anytime soon, but they're no push over for a very average team like the Jets.

If the Jets find themselves down by multiple scores near halftime, Rex Ryan may have to make one of the most difficult decisions of his head coaching career. Is Rex Ryan willing to go down with the ship, or will he turn to Tim Tebow to save his job? That decision may be coming just a day from now.
