Thanks to the Dallas Cowboys' decision to hold training camp in a different state and time zone, Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr wasn't able to be in the room when his fiancée gave birthday to the couple's first son on Monday.
But thanks to modern technology, Carr was able to see and hear the entire thing from 1,200 miles away.
Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has details of Carr's wild Monday. He returned with the team to California after they took part in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game Sunday night, but then Carr was alerted that his fiancée was going into labor. He rushed to LAX but didn't have time to make it home before the birth. Instead, though, he was right there thanks to online and mobile video application FaceTime.
"I saw everything I needed to see," Carr told Williams. "I saw it all. Technology is wonderful these days. Sometimes you can’t control what’s going to happen. You’ve just got to go with the flow. I made the most of it."
Carr made it back to Texas to unite with his family during the first days of Austin's life. But now it's back to business, as he returns to camp in time to start Friday against the Oakland Raiders.
"I’m ready to get it on," Carr said. "I’m pretty fresh and ready to get out there and run around and get some action finally and get ready for the season."
