Christian Ponder declared inactive tonight against the Packers

The Vikings task tonight recently got just a little bit more difficult. According to Al Michaels, reporting during a break in the early game between the Bengals and the Texans, indicated that Ponder tried out his arm before the game before the team declared him inactive. Joe will be the Vikings' starter.

The most glaring difference between Webb and Ponder is that Webb is a distinctly mobile quarterback. He can keep plays alive in the pocket that would result in a sack with Ponder in the game. On the downside, Webb has yet to attempt a pass this season.

The change will certainly affect both teams. The Packers will now have to worry about a quarterback scramble for a big gain, and the switch at quarterback will put more pressure on Adrian Peterson and the Vikings' running attack.
