Cortland Finnegan makes crazy prediction

Cortland Finnegan has never been afraid to speak his mind, even if his opinion is in serious contradiction to the general consensus. Chalk his most recent comment up as being one of those incidents.

"If we don’t win it, I’ll take the Lions winning it next," Finnegan told the Detroit Free Press.

Wait, what?

That's a bold statement to make, especially considering those teams combined for just eleven wins last season, which would be just enough to get one team into the playoffs during a normal season.

As with most predictions, you can probably ignore it as purely offseason chatter, but we don't usually see such predictions from players on mediocre teams. Usually it comes from teams that are actually close to sniffing the Super Bowl.

The biggest problem Finnegan has is the difficulty of the divisions in which the Rams and the Lions play. The 49ers and Seahawks, both in the Rams' division, are expected to make deep playoff runs, while the Lions have to contend against the Packers, Vikings and Bears, all of which are more complete teams than Detroit.

A word of caution, don't take betting advice from Finnegan if he truly believes his own statement.
