Mike Munchak working with the Titans’ offensive line

Titans head coach Mike Munchak is heading into a do-or-die season with the Tennessee Titans. After last season's 6-10 finish, the Titans' top coach needs to put together a solid year, likely one that results in a playoff birth, to keep his job beyond the end of the 2013 season. With so much on the line, it actually makes sense that Munchak is working more with the offensive line in a hands on role.

"I knew that once I had a good feel for what I was doing, we'd find a way where I could be more involved," Munchak told Yahoo! Sports' Teresa Walker. "I was still involved to some degree on the offensive side. I'm involved in the whole thing. Now I think I have the time to do it. … It's kind of a good fit for all of us for me to be in a position where we felt I could help."

Munchak is working with Bruce Matthews, the Titans' offensive line coach and close friend of Munchak, in an effort to solidify a suspect group. Munchak and Matthews are both in the hall of fame due to their work on the offensive line as players, and now they're trying to help their offense be more efficient and productive by getting their big men up to speed.

Andy Levitre, signed in free agency by the Titans, sees a great opportunity as a lineman to work for some of the best to ever play the game on the line.

"They know what works," Levitre told Yahoo! Sports. "They've done it and been successful with it, so it's definitely good in that aspect."

There's no doubt that the coaching for the offensive line is more than sufficient to produce a dominant unit up front, but it's hard to tell if there's enough talent on the line for the Titans to work with. In football, especially at the pro level, the offense will live and die by the play of the offensive line, and Munchak and Co. need a big year from their big men in 2013.
