Over the weekend, Ray Rice, who has for years possessed a good guy reputation, was arrested on domestic violence charges. And then, earlier Wednesday, TMZ uncovered video of Rice dragging his fiancé out of an elevator at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City. She appeared to be unconscious.
Many figured, or hoped, she was drunk and that this was all just a misunderstanding.
Doesn't look like it.
Here's the summons, per Mike Hellgren at CBS Baltimore affiliate WJZ:
Still awaiting all the facts.... I sense an overreaction based upon the tail end of one video surveillance clip. For all we know as of now (2/20/14---3:00 P.M. EST) there was an argument and some alcohol involved--- that's it. Did she go off on him? Did he push her away? We just don't know the true context of the alleged physical contact.
Note also that the above Summons is dated February 15th... that's 5 days ago!----and that Rice's fiancee received an identical Summons against her filed by the local police. So in reality we have no more knowledge of the facts of the case at this time (5 days later) than we did last week.
I wish Rice would get out in front of this situation and tell the public what really happened. But I guess his attorneys have advised him to keep quiet.
Thats how black men are raised you don't let a woman disrespect you in public or private. If she raiser her voice or gets in you face or hits you. you knock her ass out.
@LouisBecker I disagree with Louis' generalization of "how black men are raised"... I think that's an unfair and biased stereotype. I have many African-American friends who are strong men yet would never raise a hand against a female or a loved one. I know this because we have been friends for decades...and we have shared a lot of time in family homes and gatherings together.
@BriChung No conclusions were jumped to.
