Super Bowl XLVIII will be a clash of two completely different styles, but that hasn’t made it easier on odds makers in determining just which team will most likely come out on top. In a clash of offense versus defense, the game looks about like a push on first glance, and that’s exactly what odds makers are dealing with.
Initial betting lines showed the Seahawks as a slight one-point favorite over the Broncos, but betting has changed that. The betting odds on Seattle to win the Super Bowl are +2.5, with the Broncos now being slightly favored. The over/under for the game between the two teams is set at 47.5. Given that both teams have the ability to score points in bunches, they may be able to eclipse that mark without too much sweat, but obviously, there’s no guarantees in the Super Bowl.
If you enjoy betting for the fun of it, then this game presents an interesting challenge. You could place bets on either team, but in either case, the money you would make would be marginal because odds are so close to 1:1.
If you’re game is to win money, you may want to take a look at some of the alternative spreads and over/unders. By taking the Seahawks by 3, for example, you could get a far bigger payoff than simply betting the Broncos won’t cover the spread, but as always, place any bets at your own risk.
Still, half the fun of betting on the Super Bowl revolves around prop bets. Betting $100 on a safety being the first score of the game would net the better $4000. The odds of a touchdown not being scored in the entire game are currently set at +3000. Those are just some of the highlights of some of the bets that can be placed on the big game.
Right now, the most extravagant prediction you can make is taking the Seahawks to win by 36 points. Such a bet would net $10,000 on a $100 wager, but don’t think that your bets are restricted to just the aforementioned categories. Additionally, you can bet on total turnovers, first team to score, first half/second half results, total punts and much more.
